Sam Raimi to Direct World of Warcraft – Sam Raimi, the Director of “Spider Man” movies will be directing the new videogame “World of Warcraft” movie due out in 2011. He will be working with “Dark Knight” producer, Charles Roven to develop this live-action film from the game from which “Warcraft” originated. Warner Brothers will distribute the film which will also be backed by Blizzard Entertainment. This movie is expected to be a big hit and as successful as the video game.
Raimi, who is well known for bringing 3-dimensional life to comic book characters is now ready to take on a video game. His recent “Drag Me to Hell” was highly successful and hailed as a fun and tightly-paced take on the horror genre. And his “Spider Man” movies have all been ranked as top-grossing films. The “World of Warcraft” is expected to be a box office success starting with a huge following of millions of fans of the video game, when Raimi wraps up “Spider Man 4”, which will be produced next year. According to Variety, Raimi is quoted as saying: “At its core, ‘Warcraft’ is a fantastic action-packed story. I am thrilled to work with such a dynamic production team to bring this project to the big screen.”
