Ryan O’Neal Asks Farah Fawcett to Marry Him and She Agrees – In an interview with Barbara Walters, scheduled to air on “20/20” Friday, June 26, 2009, Ryan O’Neal has said that he plans to marry his longtime love, Farah Fawcett. He told Barbara Walters, “I’ve asked her to marry me, again, and she’s agreed.” Laughing, he said, “We will as soon as she can say yes…Maybe she can just nod her head.”
Farah and Ryan have been dating since 1980 and have a son, Redmond, but never officially got married even though O’Neal asked. “I used to ask her to marry me all the time” he said “But…it just got to be a joke, you know. We just joked about it.”
When asked about Farah’s condition Ryan said that she’s “fighting for her life.”

Actress Farah Fawcett, the most famous pinup poster girl, was diagnosed with anal cancer in 2006 and had the tumor surgically removed. The cancer returned after a year and has spread throughout her body. She travelled to Germany several times to undergo treatment to rid her body of the cancer but was unsuccessful.
Regarding his wedding attire O’Neal said he has his outfit prepared. He said he will dress “like a gigolo. You know? And a little thin mustache and slicked-back hair. I don’t know. We have fun, we tease about that.”
Ryan has constantly been by Farah’s side as she battle this horrible disease and fought back tears as he spoke about his admiration and love for her.
