Madonna Plans Adoption Malawian Child
Madonna will adopt another Malawaian child. Despite the controversy surrounding an earlier adoption of a child, David Banda, from the African country of Malawi, Madonna has indicated that she may adopt another child. In response to questions from Malawi’s the Nation newspaper, Madonna said: “Many people – especially our Malawian friends – say that David should have a Malawian brother or sister. It’s something I have been considering, but would only do if I had the support of the Malawian people and the Government.”

David’s adoption was approved by a Malawian court last year after many difficulties. However, Madonna has said that she was happy to pave the way for more adoptions in Malawi, and wanted to keep her son connected to his homeland and his culture. The life David lives now with a mega pop star, is very different from that of his relatives in his village home of Lipunga, where they eat meals cooked on open fires.
Madonna was recently divorced from her husband, film director, Guy Richie. However she said that none of the children are deprived of either parent. She said: “I believe in family. So everything between us is very amicable…we both agree that our children should always feel a connection with both of their parents. It is our responsibility to give them that foundation.”
