I just figured out how to fix this particular issue an alternate way. Basically, I changed my primary email address, not realizing it was the same as my secondary email address. When asked to verify, I received a message stating that I was already verified, but each time I attempted to login it said I still needed to verify. I logged into appleid.apple.com and selected the change name and email address section, seeing that my primary and secondary email addresses were the same, and that the secondary was verified but the primary was not. I changed my secondary email address to something different, resent both verification requests, verified both email addresses, and the issue was then resolved.

[quote]
I logged onto my iTunes account, and discovered that there was now a blank Credit Card security/CCV field next to the CC number field. Also there was a weird message in red stating that my address did not seem to be traditional for my area, and required editing or some such nonsense. I deleted a few characters in the address field, re-typed them exactly as they were, filled in my CC CCV code, and clicked done. All problems fixed!

Thank you so much, used this and it works!! Tried everything else with no luck! Thank you so much :)

i think there are a few different errors here ... mine had nothing to do with the shopping cart ... and i didn't think it had anything to do with applications, since that wasn't part of the error message ... but copying the apps out and deleting them worked but only after i reread this and realized i needed to restart itunes ... i think there is an issue with 8.2 (since the problem started after my recent upgrade) and iphone apps ... took a long time to resolve, and seems like a pretty serious bug for them to have released the software!!

For me, the shopping cart was not accessible. I found a chat link here:
http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/store/password/

and was told "That error usually means that an item that you put in your cart has been modified from it's original format since you added it." The rep cleared my shopping cart, and was able to access it again.

The ipod hard drive is responsible for many errors, but in many instances, the problem is not actually with the hard drive, but with the hard drive cable. Corrosion develops on the silver part of the hard drive cable and must be cleaned periodically to keep the iPod functioning correctly. This isn't always the case, but many times it is.
