Google Adwords vs Facebook Ads
My friend tested Google Adwords and FaceBook Ads with 50 YTL which equals to $43 , and heres the results showing how much traffic you can drive to your website with Facebook ads and Google Adwords.
Results For Google Adwords :

Total impression : 125.900
Total clicks : 93
Click through rate ( CTR ) : %0.07
Cost per click ( CPC ) : $ 0.45
Cost per 1000 impressions ( CPM ) : $ 0.33
Positives of Adwords :
- If you work hard on chosing right keyword you can get better results. Since he’s not Adwords Professional he was able to get this rates.
- Local impression available which means you can chose a county and show your ads only visitors from that county.
Negatives of Adwords :
- You have to spend a lot of time to chose true keywords to get better results.
- You cannot know on which sites your ad will appear.
- Although you think that it will be cheap at first , it may cost you much depending on chosen keywords.
Results For Facebook Ads :
Total impression : 818.902
Total clicks : 251
Click through rate ( CTR ) : %0,03
Cost per click ( CPC ) : $ 0.16
Cost per 1000 impressions ( CPM ) : $ 0.05
Positives of Facebook Ads :
- You can show your ads to certain demography , for example you can show your ads to women between 18-22 ages.
Negatives of Facebook Ads :
- You cannot show ads depending on people’s interests.
- CTR is low.
As a result FaceBook Ads seemed more profitable , because with same amount of money Facebook drove more traffic than Google Adwords . It may because we’re not Adwords Professional. But when we compare impressions and clicks Facebook Ads beats Google Adwords athough CTR is low on Facebook.

Yes this is quite common. I’ve seen millions of impressions – “free” advertising if you use the facebook ppc.
Only pay for the clicks and I agree they can be much lower than Google but not based on search so you need a highly converting product or other strategies to make the click costs pay back.
it’s very good
I agree Facebook can be much better.
In the above example Facebook cost per click was .16 cents versus Google 45 cents.
It is cost per click that is the bottom line.
So Google was three times the price !
My limited testing agrees with that Facebook is much better fro cost per click.
Although to me, Facebook users may not be “so serious” as Google searchers.
Facebook advertising can be very good if you are trying to create awareness for your brand. Google is best for driving sales.
This is a great article on the new Facebook ads and how they compare to Adwords and it has taught me alot in my research.
Thanks
